Lake Wörthersee is right at the heart of the beautiful federal province of Carinthia. The small and tranquil village of Maria Wörth is situated on an idyllic peninsula on the lake’s southern shore and has two ancient pilgrimage churches. Our village is especially well suited for holidaymakers seeking tranquillity.
Within a distance of 15 kilometres, you can visit the province’s capital Klagenfurt at the eastern end of the lake or Velden with its famous Schlosshotel (palace hotel) in the west by bus, boat, bicycle or car.
Maria Wörth is a central starting point for countless trips and activities all over Carinthia, and even our neighbouring countries Slovenia and Italy are within easy reach.
Maria Wörth is situated on a very ancient ley line that stretches all the way from Großglockner mountain in the west across the entire federal province. A very long time ago, the small so-called winter church (Winterkirche) was built on this ley line.
