9th to 11th June 2017
The Wörthersee Triathlon 2575 is ‘Ironman’s little brother’. Its sprint distances (750m swimming / 20km cycling / 5km running) are ideal preparation at this time of year for the Ironman competition. Because of its wide range of competitions, the Wörthersee Triathlon 2575 also provides the perfect opportunity for a short, early summer sporting holiday in ‘Austria’s cradle of the triathlon – the Wörthersee’.
Hardly any other location in Austria can claim to be the home of so many triathlon events.
Every year for more than 25 years the Wörthersee has been the stronghold of the triathlon.
Long before the Ironman series made this one of the most popular destinations on its international events calendar, the Wörthersee was the heartland of the triathlon. Our redesigned Wörthersee Triathlon has built on this tradition: One week before Austria’s National Sprint Triathlon Championships, and one month before Ironman, athletes from
many countries meet here. It’s not only the professionals, though. More than anything, it’s those involved in popular sports, or sport as a hobby, and – importantly – the younger generation, who see this as the ideal stage on which to achieve their personal best performances.
Besides the triathlon, a wide range of swim & run, or aquathlon, competitions round off the three-day programme.
The last day, Sunday, features the Pörtschach Promenade Run, designed primarily to encourage families to get some exercise along the banks of the lake.
